4 Bedroom House
Location: Clapham, London. UK.
For this Victorian semi-detached building, set within Wandsworth Common Conservation area, the client required renovation and extension works. The basement of the building was reorganized and enlarged creating space for a wine cellar, an en-suite guest bedroom and a playroom. The latter, as demanded in the brief, becomes conveniently well connected to the above kitchen and dining open space.
The plan designed allows parents and children to enjoy their respective spaces without ever feeling physically apart. The living space on the ground floor clearly becomes the main nucleus of the home as it is set to stretch within the rear extension, towards the garden. Noteworthy, this glass modern expansion does not obstruct the view of the original Victorian features, neatly fitting in and thus preserving the architectural harmony of the building.
The ground floor reserves space for an office, a family room and a salon. Finally another four bedrooms are accommodated on the two top floors. The master suite completely occupies the first floor where the available space has been distributed to fit a sleeping area, a lounge space, a walk-in wardrobe and a generous free-standing bathroom. The top floor is reserved for the three remaining bedrooms and a spacious bathroom.
